Wind and Brass Instrument

Have you ever heard of the recorder? Not the kind where you record someone talking or a video camera. A recorder is a type of flute instrument that makes sound by the vibration of the wind. A wind instrument is any instrument that uses the air breathed from the mouth and into the instrument to generate sound.

There are many types but the most mainstream woodwind instruments would be piccolo, flute, oboe, saxophone, clarinet, or bassoon. The brass family includes instrument that share a similar concept as the woodwind instrument in that they also utilize wind input from the mouth. Examples of brass instruments are trumpet, trombone, horn and tuba. Unlike the piano, brass and woodwind instruments are mobile and require minimal amount of maintenance.
